Hi All! I plan to tow Albin-25 #AMN03950276 (1975) home

in 2 weeks. Our deposit is down, but other affairs prevent us from taking delivery sooner.

I started sailing at age 10, but now at 71 my wife and I are ready to forego any more sail changing in a yawl featuring 43" headroom in the saloon and continue cruising in the Albin which of course features standing headroom in the galley.

We've cruised our 28-ft edey & Duff Shearwater Yaw, TRUE NORTH from Maine to the Strait of Georgia, and from the North Channel of Lk Huron to Laguna Madre over a period of 15 years.

The Dovekie in which I had earlier cruised for 12-years had over 30,000 miles on her trailer. for launches in waters from Florida Bay to Lake Of The Woods, and from Lk Champlain to Land Between the Lakes.

A really good trailer is part of the deal, because we're not through exploring waters far from home in Rockford, Illinois.

The Albin-25 has its original Volvo MB 3D engine. She was owned for soe years by a gentleman in Virginia, however, we're purchasing the boat from a fellow in Wisconsin who previously launched her in the State of New York.

I'm sure we'll have many questions for y'awl in the months to come concerning our Albin-25, the NORD STJERNE ("North Star" in Norwegian).

Welcome abroad. Sounds lke the 25' has had tender loving care and will provides you two years of enjoyment. Nice to have you on the dark side/ opps other side. Power should be easy after your hard sailing. Great to have a towable boat.

Nick, what have you been using to tow the A25? I am using my Tacoma V6 to tow Iron Jack (`1970 A25) The truck does the job but is a bit on light, underpowered side for a long haul. What do you have for a trailer?

Nord Stjerne has a Magic Tilt (doesn't "tilt") twin-axle trailer with 14" wheels, one axle having brakes.

Our tow vehicle is a 1993 Dodge 250 Diesel (Cummins 12-valve) Club Cab with a dual-fuel system so it can burn straight waste vegetable oil in addition to Diesel fuel. We've only towed the Albin 85 miles, however, we've towed our 28-ft Shearwater Yawl a whole lot farther.

I used a 2000 Chevy 1500 Silverado (gasoline V-8) before getting the Dodge 4 years ago and the Dodge is way better as a tractor. The Chevy might overheat on a hot summer day with the ac on, and the transmission could never figure out which gear to stay in on a hill.

Hi I to have Albin is 28' with tons of gear on board. I have 3 axle trailer and the boat lives at home, I tow it with my Dodge truck 1 ton with the 6-12 valve also not fast up grade 6 hills, 35MPH up the hill but it works for me. 30 years of slip cost is over for me. Enjoy! Steve on the left coast (Ventura Ca.)

That can be changed in minutes on a Cummins for very little $$ :D

Well I guess my Tacoma is a bit on the light side, no wonder I am down into 2nd gear on the big hills. May have to rent or borrow something to tow to Moosehead lake in Maine next summer. Tacoma works fine for the short hauls but don't know about a 5 hour run. The Cummins would be nice.
