Debris in Great South Bay
I have been out in the Bay several times this week and one must be alert to debris that is floating in the bay. I saw 4x4's, 12 foot telephone poles as well as trhe general planking that people use for bulkheads at FI, Sexton and West island.

It's always amazing how much stuff "takes off" after a big storm. At least you should be better off than our Hudson River friends...literally tons of crap floating in island like clumps down the river.

Also tons of debris in Fishers Island sound and Block Island sound. Kinda strange, saw zero on the trip to BI on saturday, but tons on the trip back sunday morning.
One guy in our marina hit a big one at about 24 knts comming back monday.. shut down one of his big Manns, caused a tranny leak, but no holes or injuries.

Re: Debris in Great South Bay
After Sundays down pour, the river came up a foot over night (upper Hudson). We left our marina around noon Monday and it had come up another 6" or so. Today we're about 4' higher then Monday, with more rain for tonight and tomorrow. Another foot and we won't be able reach our docks.
And yep, there is a lot of crap, large crap, floating down stream. Staying put for at least a week.
