Being where I am, always watching this time of year. Boat is not a worry. Sitting in a half steel cradle & well blocked & boatstand supported. After sitting out a cat 3 storm in 03 at home, preparations are always ready to go.

Each forecast for the past 48 hours or so keeps estimating Irene’s track to be further and further east of the Tampa Bay area – thus a sigh of relief. In ’04 Charlie’s predicted track was straight over my house. We evacuated but Charlie made a right hand turn some 40-50 miles south of us at the last minute. One can never be sure as to what will happen until the last minutes…

Still prefer to deal with a hurricane rather than a tornado or an earthquake – there being two reported earthquakes today – one in Virginia at 5.9 and the other in Colorado at 6.6, which I believe were the recorded scale values…

I took a day off and cruised over to Tolchester Beach today. http://www.tolchestermarina.com/main/

We walked along the beach for awhile and then headed toward the marina. We were sitting on a picnic table when the earthquake hit. Table was jumping up and down, the water in front of us was churning, and the boats were a rockin. About 5-7 seconds, then we could hear the waves crashing on the beach for another few seconds. We looked at each and "WTF"? Later we cruised into Middle River and stopped at the Wild Duck cafe. There was quite a bit of conversation about it.
No damage at our marina or home. All is well.

Nope, I only make money when material things become damaged, I'm not an ambulance chaser or an undertaker... I actually enjoy helping people in a time of need Except for the a-holes, then coverage is declined

Yes we are planning a cruise next week, think we are still heading up LI Sound from NJ, Thursday and Friday to Portsmouth where we have a good secure slip. Looks like tropical storm in New England and resume cruise on Mon or Tues depending on weather.
A swing the wrong direction and this is all off!!

Just sent an e-mail to my marina to pull the boat and block it up. For a couple hundred dollars, no point in waiting till the last minute, and then have to worry about it. If it stays east, surge should not be too bad up the cheasapeake, but if it turns to the west, we could get hit pretty good. Saw enough damage first hand from Isabelle here, no point in worrying. Some channels are already predicting heavy rains, winds, waves and possible surge Saturday and Sunday.
Boat hass been sitting due to work, so I am sure the bottom can use a cleaning, and might as well put a coat of wax on it while its out. Hopfully we dont get another earth quake while its on the jacks!

Current forcast path shows a pretty direct path over eastern Ct. Still early and the path may change I know, but I am planning on taking some extra gear and my truck to the boat this weekend. Figuring saturday might be a tiedown day and I may pull the dink off the davits and into my truck if it looks bad.

The Boat US policy covers 50% of the haulout, blocking, splashing, etc. expenses if there is a NOAA Hurricane watch or warning. Not sure if the policy deductible applies to this coverage - I don't have Boat US any longer.

I just called our carrier (Old United). Our policy also reimburses one half the cost to professionally haul or move the boat to safer water. They will pay up to $500 and there is no deductible. Only applies if the National Weather Service issues a Hurricane watch or warning. That makes it a little easier decision.

Rock Hall, do you know the 41 Defever "Say Goodbye"? Ralph is a friend of mine.
He's actually taking his boat to Baltimore (Anchorage Marina) to tie down for the storm there. I guess all the boats there did well in Isabelle.
