Love my 28...

Post by Pasteur »

After lurking local marinas, boat shows and this Board for several years I finally put a 28 on my mooring last week. She's a 2006 with a blue hull, a flush deck and a very happy new owner.

A good portion of my happiness is due to all of your postings. I agonize over the smallest of decisions - being obsessive is less a burden when you have a site like this one to answer every question. Thank you all so much.

RicM - I've admired your boat for the last several seasons as I passed through Wickford. She's a beauty and teased me relentlessly to to buy an Albin. But I really owe you for the infamous docking post. I am new to boating but I can execute an adequate counter clockwise turn - hard to port, hands off the wheel, forward and reverse - and leave her in just the right spot off the dock. Let the wind push her in and my wife stands there mouth agape - "how did you learn to do that?" IOU dinner some time.

Ken at Standish, Tiverton - I don't think he visits this board but Ken is an forthright fellow and deserves a hat tip. If you like to do business on a handshake Ken is a trustworthy counter party. And he knows these boats.

As for my Albin - her name is Aque'ne which means "Peace" in the language of the Narragansett Indians. She'll cruise the bay with an eye for fishing, run to Montauk from time to time and do her September duties as an offshore workhorse.

We will look forward to meeting all of you...
