Prop size

Post by J. E. Hartwell »

We have just purchased a 1985 Albin 40' with single Ford Lehman diesel engine. A previous owner switched to a 4-bladed prop. However we don't know if he pitched the four- bladed down or not. Since we are having some work done on the running gear, I would llike to know if someone can give the proper diameter and pitch parameters for a four -bladed prop for this boat before I commit to any changes.
Thankyou for any assistance

pitch

The simple answer, if there can be such a thing with a prop, is do you reach the recommended enigine RPM at WOT? You can $pend a lot of money and time tweaking size and pitch, but when it comes down to the nuts and bolts, my opinion is, max RPM at WOT and you'va gotten it close enough. IMHO.
