Flag pole

The wife has just bought me a new Taylor Made 30 in stainless flag pole for the 28 . it is a flush mount , not a transum mount . My question is due to the fish box,s amd live well on the stern ,s of these boats where did you mount your s on the stern , I have no room to mt in the centre , so did some of you offset them on port or stb side .
Due to the radar arch and rocket launchers ,top of pilot house is not a option at this time .

Mine is mounted starboard side of livewell.

Sonny III's flush mount was to starboard.

The proper place to display the flag is centered. My holder is installed in the lid of the fish box in the transom. If you don't want to put it there, the starboard side is the right place. The American Flag is always displayed to the right (from the persective of the flag).

I wanted the handle thru bolted and backed with large washers so here's how I handled the fish box obstacle. Perhaps you can do something similar for the flag pole install.

My set-up is the same as Rob's. Call Ken at Standish, he'll know exactly what to send you. I believe it is actually a 30 or 15 degree mount. When I purchased my boat from Standish I told Ken I wanted to mount the ensingn centered above the rub rail and he walked over to the display rack and said "this is what you want." It was that easy.

Not sure where you are out of, but you may have it before the 4th!

Thanks for the grab handle installation photos. I've been wanting to put in some kind of towing hook for the dinghy - because that darned bridle uses up both mooring cleats - as well as a grab handle, and this gives me a good idea about how to do both projects. Beautiful work.

Funny you say that, when I tow the dinghy locally at hull speed i pass the line through the handle and then over to either cleat. Thanks for the compliment. Be sure to backplate the tow hook in case the dinghy gets swamped, etc..

I take it towing "the dinghy locally at hull speed" in general means Toy-Rific isn't on plane so there isn't too much stress on the grab rail bolts and washers. The bright idea you just gave me, to use the grab rail as a towing hook, probably means I'd need to use a large bar or piece of plate as a backer, obviously cutting a larger chunk out of the fish box to get access. That's OK, I can still gasket the patch even though I don't normally use the box to hold water.
