our new [to us] 36 express cruiser

Post by steveandtina »

good evening all you albineers, we are currently decicing which of the 5 used 36's we will in all likelyhood buy. [hope none of the yacht brokers i am dealing with are reading this!!] only one is a single with a bow thruster,, definitely not a deal breaker as my current boat is a single with bow and stearn thrusters,,, the price difference between that and the 4 twin screws is considerable[ about 40k] has anyone out there had experience with both? this is only the first of many other questions i will be asking as the buying process advances---thanking you in advance for any relevant info----- steve,,, [the lesser half of steveandtina :D

Have a 32+2 Albin Command Bridge with a single Cummins 370 TBA deisel with bow thruster. I cruise in the "sweet spot" 2400-2600 RPM @ 17 knots + burn maybe 8 gals per hour, the economy is outstanding. It took some getting used to but eventually have learned to balance the "prop walk" of the single screw and bow thruster to dock stern in at 90 degrees to the current in my marina, it's all in being able to pivot the boat in it's own length and to be able to manipulate the momentum.
Between the economy of the single and a purchase price $40 K less sounds like a deal to me if all else is equal.

Hi Steve & Tina Welcome: Did you find the 36' Classic you were considering. Assume you are thinking of baoting in the Delta area as home port of Auburn is pretty dry. You are close to great waters, however.
My work for 25 years is near you in Yuba City although we retired to the coast in Trinidad, Ca. Have been a fisher for 35-40 years, but cruising will be new to me in Anacorters, Wa. Enjoy your search if you are still looking. If you have found your dream post some pictures. We would all like to see your find. I still spend a week a month near you in Yuba City or Tahoe up the hill. Best wishes in your search. it took me a a full year.
