Shaft Zinc
I had my shaft replaced, the old one had enough room for a donut, now i have about 1" max between the leaving side of the cutlass and the entering side of the prop
does anyone know where i can get a very slim 1 1/8 zinc If not available what other options are available.

They're called collar or donut zincs. Here's a west marine page from a quick search:

The problem is the 1 to 1.5 inch collar zincs are 1.25 inches thick. I assume the 1 1/8 space you are talking about is the thickness?

I think 1-1/8 is the shaft dia. and he states he only as an inch of clearance..

On my previous boat I had to cut some off a donut zinc to fit it on the shaft. That was after adding Spurs.
The next year I had a solid steel spacer made to go between the tranny and prop shaft couplings which moved the prop back and gave me room for a whole donut. No pun intended of course

Good solution Jay. And can be made of carbon steel so not a big deal to fabricate or buy..
Chris, keep in mind that there will be some slight forward movement of the shaft assembly under load, especially if your engine is rubber mounted. So you want to leave clearance in front of the donut zinc if you try and alter one to make it fit. Fit it tighter to the prop side, not the cutlass side.

On Tuxedo, the shaft began to taper right near where it came out of the stern tube, so it would not hold a zinc. I added a shaft brush inside the boat, tied to the bonding system. That worked fine. The alternative, I was told, was a propeller nut anode, but the guys at the yard liked the shaft brush solution better.

Yes. Actually I used CRS (cold rolled steel) about as low cost as you can get.And can be made of carbon steel so not a big deal to fabricate
Yes the year before I made the spacer I also tried the prop nut zinc and I did not like that. It was cast around a washer that held it in place and that washer was thick enough to be a PIA getting the lock nut and cotter pin in place, yada,yada. Which made it a bear to change mid season under the boat.

When I installed line cutters I also installed a Drivesaver which compensated for the space lost to the cutter. http://www.globecomposite.com/pages/products_drivesaver
