Moriches Bay

Post by RobS »

Regarding the shoaling east of the USCG station, the buoys have been moved back to the original charted channel (see attachment) For those of us who have GPS waypoints for the “dog-leg” (northern) channel, please note that the old channel is new again. So follow the buoys, not last years GPS route. Buoys 27, 28 and 29 have been moved from the dog-leg channel back to the charted channel.

As well, buoys 17, 18, and 20, further up west in Moriches Bay, have been moved back to their original charted positions (south, from their positions last season.)

But this is Moriches, with many sandbars, narrow channels and strong currents/tides, so this all can, and will, change. Hopefully later than sooner..

Good to know Rob

Our boat is still on land right now :( but my sister and her family are going through there this holiday weekend.
I'll let them know and report back how they fare. Doug (my brother in law is meticulous on reporting findings)

At a tide near high we had over 8ft at the shallowest section.
