We - my wife and I - hare became owners of a "fix-er-upper" 1979 36 Classic which sadly to say we have owned for three years and still has not hit the water since we got it. It had better happen this summer. I have been boating for some 56 years and my wife has loved it since I got her into boating when we were dating each other. We started with power boats in the 1950's and on into the mid 1970's when we switched to sail because the gas prices had jumped from 32 cents a gallon to 75 cents a gallon. Do any of you older folk remember them days? We owned two sailboats of which our 36 is up for sale. For the last few years I have had the urge to go to a trawler and finally made the purchase three years ago. And now fuel has gone over $3.00 a gallon. Go Figure! This trawler spent all her years along the East coast until we had it trucked to the West side of Michigan where we live.
I have questions for some of you concerning some things that I came across that I doubt that a surveyor might never find doing a survey. But I'll get into that later. I look forward to being a part of the Albin Owners Group and also look forward trading information about the classic Albins - especially the 36 Albin.

Yes please post some pictures. Especially of the shaft log removal. I have a similar situation that I have just started to tackle.

We have a 1982 36 classic we bought about 3 years ago in Charleston SC and drove to MI. We keep Summer Triangle in St Clair MI just off the St Clair river. Two years ago we came around to Lake Michigan and got as far as White Lake on our way to Chicago when they closed the (carp) canal. We hope to be on your side of the state soon, headed for the remaining portion of the Great Loop.
I might be able to help with some specifics. Fire away.
