I pulled the boat last week. Before I did, I took some good advice and blew out a hole. If the boat was still there this past weekend it would have come in handy. The tide was OUT. My neighbors boat is a 1959 Edwards. Two foot draft, no keel. Even though he was on the sand, I still had two feet at the end of the pier.

Pretty spot!

The size of your tide swing surprised me too. I'd just have to have floating docks, but then we have a nominal 7 foot swing with the occasional 11' plus thrown in.

Normal tide swing is only 2-3 feet. But, in the winter we get these very low tides at least 3 times a month. The unusually high tide is when a strong wind is out of the south. That doesn't happen often. We have thought about a floating pier. A few neighbors have them. The thing about this place is that it's part of a queen's grant. (circa 1700) I can't buy the land. Only rent. The lease is year-to-year. That's another story in itself.

That's the best part about a floating pier. You can take it with you when you leave.
