engine zincs
I am a new member, and a not-so-new member, as I have not visited in some time, and re-enrolled. I bought a 2007 35cb, which the dealer told me was the last production model off the line...and I have certainly had more than my share of "new boat blues".....most I have resolved, mainly by throwing money....one that has me stumped, and mechanics too....looking forward, the starboard forward engine zinc cannot be unscrewed because it runs against the exhaust, which will not move out of the way.....any hints other than complete dismantle of the exhaust..?? Boat name is "Nautique", located Tierra Verde, Florida.....cheers, Gary

I have a Yanmar and am not familiar with the zincs on the Cummins. Maybe Kevin or Jay or another member familiar with the Cummins will chime in..

Not specifically familiar with the QSB, but Cummins traditionally has the zinc in the lower front of the heat x changer. The heat xchanger is typically held in place by two sets of split clamps that can be easily loosened so you can slide the xchanger forward or aft a scooch IF that will help give you clearance for a wrench.

sorry for the smart remark...couldn'd stop myself....it is near the heat exchanger, but the exhaust needs to come out several inches....will have a look to see if that will do it, but afraid it may not be so....have you ever seen any non-standard zincs that might be offset.....Gary

Never seen an offset zinc. Normally the partially consumed zinc is able to come out okay but the new zinc which is obviously larger is a problem to get in. Hopefully whatever component the zinc is protecting can be loosed and shifted over to get you the clearance you need, as Jay suggested. Post some photos if possible.
