Locks are closed!

Anyone that was wishing to head up the Hudson this week or next, be aware of the massive flooding that has been taking place up this way. Saturday we went down to work on our boat at the marina where we had it stored for the winter, about 10 miles south of Albany, and the river was flowing at a pretty good clip. There were a couple of vessels heading north that looked like they were struggling, to say the least. They would only be able to make it as far as Troy as all the locks, the Champlain Canal and Erie Canal, which were scheduled to open May 1st. won't be opening until the 15th, or there abouts. Our marina in Schuylerville, on the Champlain Canal, about 30 miles north of Troy, was about 8 feet above flood stage. The whole island where the boats are normally docked, was completely submerged. Something that the locals have never seen before.
For those of you folks down on the lower Hudson, be prepared to seen some high water and LOTS of debris. Huge trees and bunches of crap flowing south bound. There is still a snow pack in the Adirondacks and with all the rain, it's been devastating....and more rain this week.

But this is nothing compared to the towns that have been wiped off the map in the south. Our hearts and prayers go out to all of you.

Hoping for a drier and safer rest of the Spring and Summer.
It's all about relaxation :)
