I always read with interest the lists you all go through to get ready for Spring. I always learn something new. This year's prep is a little more extensive as we put off a few projects due to last year's economy. (You may have heard there was a downturn!)
Tighten, clean, inspect, replace as needed, every nut, screw, bolt, clamp, hose, belt, strainer, hinge, light bulb wire and plumbing above and below deck
Shop vac inside all electric panels, inspect each connection
Inspect spare parts and tool kit and refresh as needed
Re-bed railing post
Check anchor fittings
Reseat and seal port nav light
Replace cockpit AC outlet (funky size not available to Lowe's of course!)
Scrape and paint all exposed metal trim around doorway
Change coolant, engine zincs, air, fuel & oil filters
Load test all batteries, top with distilled H2O
Touch up exterior gelcoat spider cracks
Short haul: Inspect hull, fittings, transducers, paint bottom & replace all zincs including thruster
We tuned shaft and props late last year after picking up a lobster put on port engine in CT
Flush all fresh water systems, reconnect hot water heater & fill
Open all sea cocks
Inspect and replace all dock, anchor, towing, fenders and safety lines
Conduct radio checks
Calibrate compasses
Check steering system
Check horns
Flush head with white vinegar, secure per USCG regs
Inspect bilge pumps and float switches
Awlgrip Hull (After April 15)
Check all paperwork, insurance, excise tax, mooring permit, NMFS fisheries permit, Seatow membership
Clean wipers and coat all windows with Rainex
Scrub top to bottom
Purge unnecessary stuff
Run A/C and heat
Run all electronics and entertainment systems
Restock bedding, galley, head
Call in sick and run the boat for a few hours
It's good to be the boss, this way I can screw around alittle bit writing this list instead of working today!
Fair wind and tight lines gents.

Re: 2011 Spring Commissioning
This is a good list. It reminded me of things I'll be checking.
Thanks,

Re: 2011 Spring Commissioning
If it wasn't so darn cold and windy today I'd take the plastic off and run her today. Spring is coming. It had better, I'm driving my wife bananas...

You forgot the most important thing: turn on fridge and fill with beer.

Re: 2011 Spring Commissioning
I unwrapped mine yesterday. Awlgrip, very nice. I know you have been wanting to do that for some time now.

You're correct Rob, been dying to paint her. Just need a stretch of warm, dry weather. May wait until May. Hope we connect this summer!
