Where do people have their depthsounder transducers mounted on
single screw 35TE's? Are they thru hull mounted or surface mounted
shooting through the hull?
thanks

Re: 35TE transducer
I have the 35 with twins but so I have different cavitation signal than a single. But I use both types - an external transducer (Furuno) mounted slightly to starboard almost directly under helm seat. I also have a shoot through (Raymarine) back-up mounted in an aft hatch just off center and forward of the port rudder. My two depth alarms are set for 7 feet because I'm paranoid.

Legacy,
did you have to cut out coring for the aft surface mount or did you get lucky?

Re: 35TE transducer
I inherited when I bought the boat. But there's plenty of room to miss stringers.

Cutting out the coring is actualy very easy if you're careful. And West System makes it very easy to create a strong, solid area to drill through.
On my new (to me) 35TE with twins the through hull transducer is mounted just to the outboard side of the starboard stringer, about a foot in front of the water tank.
My 28TE, which has a hull form much like the 35 single, had the transducer under the helm, in a fairing block, about a foot from centerline. The important thing is smooth hull forward of the transducer. In this position in never lost bottom except in heavy seas.

Re: 35TE transducer
DougSea,
I presently have two thruhull transducers mounted as you describe, just outbd of stringers
at forward end of watertanks. I have "faired" and" refaired" both units over the last couple of
years , with no improvement in performance. Both units lose signal over 10-12 kts.
Thanks for the information.

Make sure your units are able to operate at higher speeds, some older models just don't send and process the data quick enough.

Re: 35TE transducer
Are they in "High Speed" fairing blocks? I had an Airmar B260 in their high speed fairing and it always worked well. Mine was the Northstar version but that's just a change in the connector. I used it with a Northstar M-121 MFD.skye peak wrote:DougSea,

Here's a link. Expensive, but it works.
