Greetings AOG, I upgraded to a 28TE about 8 months ago and will never look back. The boat has been a blast! The website and daily digest have been incredibly helpful in learning and enhancing the boat to my interest / waters. Special thanks to RobS, Mike Ebert, Pitou, RicM, Capt Paul, Et al for their reply to my IM's to all for informative posting herein. This is a great resource and I'm sure I've saved thousand $$$ using it.
About me and my Albin. Me, 44yrs old Boston native transplant to San Francisco 14yr ago. Power equipment sales by day, Super Dad of two by night. I purchased my Albin from broker in Ohio and transported to San Francisco bay. It's an upgrade from my previous Boston Whaler 170 Montauk. The Albin is a 2000, 28TE. Awlgripped green hull, Gatsby with 6LP hull #404 now has 483 hrs. Named "JOKA" a combination of my kids name JO-hn and KA-te and a play on my Boston accent, no R's.
If you’re in Northern California or come for a vacation to this great city, send me a note and hopefully you can come aboard for a ride on SF Bay. Regards OldDemps (Chris)

A fine looking vessel and a beautiful family. Doesn't get much better than that!

Nice boat! Clever and meaningful name, and I like the joker graphic on the stern. Of course with two adorable kids any photo will look good.
Did you do the Awlgrip after you bought it?
I got emails this past week from two other new AOG members. One has just closed on an Albin 28, and the other just completed a successful sea trial and should close within a week or so. I hope both will post their results soon. One will be a neighbor to you! There are a total of four Albins 28s at the NJ marina where I am on the hard for the winter, but these great boats are quite rare in CA. The new CA buyer is also moving his from an Eastern location.
Be safe.

Capt. and crew look excited ... it will never wear off! Love the boat ... love the name . Wish I were there ... just wrapped and put PITOU to bed over the weekend. North of Boston and in the 20's most mornings in these parts.
I as well have my boating roots in the infamous Whaler Montauk ... some fun times.

You're quite welcome. Congratulations. Your family is gonna love it!OldDemps wrote:Special thanks to RobS, Mike Ebert, Pitou, RicM, Capt Paul, Et al for their reply to my IM's to all for informative posting herein.
My 28TE is a 2000 as well. And I too have a 17 Montauk in my list of prior boats. I've had my 28 for 3 years and it is such a perfect family boat, so safe - no bouncing around, can get out of the weather, high gunnels, etc. But I do miss anchoring in the flats with the Whaler. Don't mean to hijack your thread but here's a few shots:OldDemps wrote:It's an upgrade from my previous Boston Whaler 170 Montauk. The Albin is a 2000, 28TE
Here's the little clammer now all grown up, drinkin' & smokin' at Albin Rendezvous:

Re: New Member - "JOKA" Sausalito, CA.
Great looking family and boat. Sausalito is a delight. I lived in San Rafael in my early days for a few years working over on the east side of the bay. Your green color is great. I am a new member still looking for my first Albin: 28 or 31. I am located in Trinidad, Ca and my current boat is in Brookings, Or. Hope to get something together this year and do some runs both south and north from Trinidad. Joka is a great name. My boat until the wanna be albin days end is a 290 Luhrs named Miss Pearl.
