Albin 34 autopilot

Post by Gunny »

Any 34 owners out there installed an autopilot? Mine (Sava-Kat) did not come with one and my last boat spoiled me with one. Seems as is there :? are so many parts and such to consider.I want the bottom of the line easiest to use I can find. Cheap would be good also but I have had my laugh of the day! RayMarine seems to be talked of most. What do you guys think?

Last year I installed a Si-Tex SP-70 autopilot in my old 40 Albin.
The complete system was $1600 + including Ct sales tax ($95) and shipping.
For $300 more I added a second station kit.
This is the complete price including the helm pump.
All I can say is that the unit works perfectly but is no frills. And that 's what I wanted simple and small as I have no helm space to spare.
It is wired to my Garmin and tracks right on the money.
Defender and Consumer Marine Electronics carry them. This is the lowest cost one on the market but it does the job.

Thanks jleonard. After your sugestion and some reading I contacted Sitex. Ended up buying the SP 80 with a 2nd station. Had to buy a larger pump due to my cylinder size but all in all came out fine. Under $1900 all total. Not bad compard to some others I looked at. Will be a few weeks til I can attempt an installation but will let all know how it goes.

I actually bought the larger pump as well, but it was all the same price. Installation was easy for me because I had an old pilot pump in place. But even without that it was a much easier installation than the Raymarine unit I installed several years ago in my ex.
Good luck with the installation...you will like this autopilot, it is so simple.

I know this is too late but I just got this today from a friend. Looks like very good prices.
