had my brains melted in the sun?
Last September I bought a 1988 Albin 40 foot Sundeck trawler with all teak decks. What was I thinking? Yes it is lovely and yes it seems to leak here and there and must be recalked. The boat is near Sandy Hook NJ. Does anyone have the same boat in the group? Does anyone know a contractor south of Maine that does recaulking? Would using white caulk and unfinished teak finish [ silver-gray] on the exposed top deck be odd? Declasse ootray , it seems it would be cooler on the feet and stay more stable over time. Oh, by the way Happy Midwinter holiday to every one and a boaty new year. Jay on Aquarius

Recaulking is not all that bad of a job, you should consider doing it yourself. The "caulk of choice" is black TDS 440 and I don't know if it comes in white, have never seen white used.
I love the teak decks, they are not slippery when kept "silver", and softer on the feet. The bad thing is that they stain and nick easily.

Good information in the document library from Jay Leonard. Look in the publications forum.
