problems with my nuts
I have a 1988 albin Trawler. The nuts that hold on the big zincs in the back are either 12mm with a 2mm thread pitch, or US 1/2 inch with a 12 per inch thread. Both completely non standard, and seem to be unavailable on line. Does anyone have an idea. How much is liable to be metric on the boat. I have had it since September. I Also would like to hear from NJ ALbin about his Jamiacan varnishers ? Are you near Sandy Hook Nj?

Re: problems with my nuts
Well I know that the threads on the stuffing boxes are an oddball metric, so what you are saying does not surprise me.
All I can suggest is check out McMasterCarr on line and see what they offer.

Re: problems with my nuts
When my shaft collar let go I ran into the 1/2" X 12tpi bolts on the collar. This is British, not US or metric. It is really non-standard. I ended up buying a couple of these nuts through a machine shop in our town. They cost me $12.50 each.

Re: problems with my nuts
I replaced mine with 1/2" bolts, washers and nuts. The mahogony support block glassed inside the transom was rotted out, replaced that with plastic lumber. My boat is in the Atlantic Highlands marina near sandy hook, don't know of any jamaican varnishers but I know 2 girls that varnish in the nude....they don't do great work but the'yre fun to watch .I did notice a 40 albin sundeck (blue hull)manuvering in the slipways, any chance that was you? Don't see too many trawlers around the area except for transients.Good Luck....Joe

Re: problems with my nuts
I found the very nuts to fit on a web site called british hardware, and have ordered a bunch. That was me and my daughter Rose at Sandy hook practicing our docking. We are at Oceanport NJ to have the tanks replaced.Which boat was yours? We did see a trawler being worked on in one of the slips.
