Reportedly over 1000.
If you email Ken Hilton at Standish Boat Yard in Tiverton, RI, my guess is he'll know. standishboat@verizon.net

Yours would be the 829th boat built as all Albin hull numbers start at 100. Yours must be a pretty late model.

The hull number of my A-30FC is AUL30115A404. That suggests it is the fifteenth one built of the series, manufactured in 2004. I have heard that they built about forty A-30FCs but I know about only a few. Does anyone know how many were built?

John.

I have asked this same question. I only know of the four on this site.

Before I bough my 2000 Albin 28 TE two months ago, I researched the model and found that about 970 were built. I did not make a record of where I found that.

I surveyed a 2007 Albin 28 TE in August 2010. It had a hull number of 913. (My 2000 has hull number 453.) Someone else posted here that he owned hull #929. The old Albin website reported production of hull 933 for sale in the 2007 season. Another has posted that Albin started models with hull 100. So somehwhere between 870 and 970 is my guess.

The origin Albin manufacturer ceasaed operations late in 2007. I have seen two or three 2008s advertised on Yachtworld and one 2009. As reported by others, the Albin 28 TE is back in production with at least a handful produced in 2010.

If you read Doug J's post above Albin started with 100 so they probably only built 8 hundred something. If the production ceased in late 07 there aren't many beyond my 929. This is further supported by Dave Gurgel that survey 913 in August of 07. I'm just trying to narrow down the final number. Anyone here beat 929? Just a curiosity.

Jim,

I understand that traditionally on AOG at year's end the owner of the baby of the group (i.e. newest Albin 28 TE) sends a bottle of champagne to the owner of the eldest of the group (the oldest Albin 28 TE). I am pretty much dead center in age at #453. Does anyone want to claim to be the eldest?

Could someone go over how to read the hull number again? My number is AUL 28170F494, what number would that make it?

28 = Model / 170 = 71st hull molded (1st is 100) / F = Month molded (A = january) / 4 = day of the month molded / 94 = year molded

A thank you to Tuxedo / Albin Emiritus (former dealer and 31 TE owner) for his earlier explanation of hull identification.

You don't have that quite right. After the hull number "170", the next two characters are the month and year that the hull was laid. In your case "F" = June and the "4" means 1994. The last two digits are the model year "94" = 1994. Often the construction of a boat begins before the model year. Some of the earlier hulls in the 1994 model year were most likely stated in 1993. The last four digits could typically be something like ".......J394" if the hull was laid in October 1993 for example.

Thank you both for explaining that for me. It's pretty complicated, don't think someone could figure that out on their own, at least I couldn't. I think the 28 TE was started in 73? Funny to think that they made more than 70 of them in a year and a half. Is that correct? I don't ever remember seeing one made before 93. Thanks, Denis
