I am new to boating and probably don't have the correct name for this part. I have a 1978 36' in good condition other than the upper tinted windshield. It seems to be made of plastic. I was needing to replace it because it is broken. Is there a special location that I can go to to get a new one? Also, what is the correct term for what I am looking for. Thanks for any help.

Re: Fly bridge windshield?
I had to have one of those made. It was far harder than it should have been. The problem was that I wasn't asking for it the way they wanted me to. I would say, "I want a windshield," and they would act like they didn't understand. It was a mess. What they wanted was a specific material, a size, and a pattern. But they couldn't just tell me that I had to figure it out.
Save the pieces, glue them together, make a pattern. They just heat a sheet of plastic and drape it over a pattern, in this case, your old one. If there's no old one you have to make a wooden pattern. You could make a plywood box oven (325 degrees or so) and heat it with a heat gun, that is how they do it. Forming the plastic is very easy.
After looking way too hard and asking the wrong questions, I finally found out there are a lot of places. Mine turned out pretty well. Had it made in Costa Mesa, Ca., at a plastic forming shop. I know Mark Plastics in Corona, Ca, can do it too.
Good luck

on the A43 Its a 3 piece windsheild. just unscrew and take to the local glass shop and have it made of 3/16 lexan, i had clear made. cut to size, deburred, holes in ready to install for $300. no need for heat, forming, templates, just use the existing to supply the glass maker with a pattern.

On a 36 it's one piece, with a complicated compound contour.
