Re: No spill oil filter change
The boat was pulled and hauled to my driveway last Monday. While the oil was still very warm, I punched a hole in the top of the filter, and it certainly helped the filter drain. Then placed a few paper towels under the filter and spun it off. Very little spillage (hooray!!)The paper towels caught it all.
I also drained the oil cooler. It still took 30 minutes to siphon the crankcase empty. Now she has a fresh dose of Rotella T 15-40, and new filter.
Now on to winterization........

Sorry - I would like to rephrase my question:
What is the crazed residue in the bilge of a couple of years ago? Baked oil or soot? How would it get cleaned up?
Thanks,

Re: No spill oil filter change
Looks to me like oil contaminated water was in the bilge and the water is now gone and the oil left this residue. I would think a degreaser would do the job.N4QC wrote:Rob S.
