210HP DIESEL 254 D MERCRUISER

I'm looking to purchase a 28 te. I found a nice 1993 with a 254 Mercruiser at 1000 hrs of age. What can you all tell me about this power plant's performance and reliability. The horse power is a concern. The hours don't scare me. I hope to be a true Albin owner soon.

I have the 250 HP Cummins and consider it minimally adequate power. Unless you are willing to cruise at 15k or so, 210 HP is too small.

I have a friend who also had the Cummins 250 and felt the same way. He repowered with either a 330 or 370 I forget which.

Gee I have the older 27 and 100 HP. I would love to find someone with a 210 Hp Cummins that wanted to re-power. I would be a serious buyer of the Cummins. I guess Albin really made a change of point of view when they made the 28.

Well I bought the boat because I couldn't pass with the price. She runs 15 knots at 2900 rpm and purrs like a kitten. Would 300 hp be nice - maybe some day. I'm a blow boater too so...

I haven't logged on for a while, so I didn't see your post in time to give you any constructive comments. Anyhow... I have a '94 Albin 28TE with the D254 power plant. Would be happy to assist with any questions or advice now that you own your Albin (congrats by the way).

I would love to but my schedule doesn't allow. I was hoping to hook up with "Quest" last weekend in Rock Hall but I couldn't make it. The personal stuff has hit the fan lately so I hope it will slow down this Fall. SpaceCoaster - let's talk about our fine running machines.
