A few months ago I posted a message saying one thing I always want to keep on the boat is a camera. Now I know why and am still kicking myself for not getting one. Went to Provincetown last weekend and just before entering the harbor I came across a big shark about 12' long, most likely one of the great whites in the area. This one was no basking shark as we see them quite frequently. It cruised along the top of the water, maybe in 100' depth and it went slow and steady right up to the beach. Could not get close to the shark in my boat while basking sharks usually come right up to us. The next morning we were pulling out of the harbor to avoid the gale and we went over a large pool of blood - - about the size of my boat (35 X 12). Would to have loved to see the seal and shark interaction.

Wow. Pretty cool. I always try to bring the camera on the boat. You just never know what you're going to see. Around here's usually Orcas or Grey Whales. Most exciting is when I see another AOG member.

Re: Great White
We picked up an Olympus "Tough" series camera and keep it on the boat. Water and shock proof. Which I've verified by having it slide off of the helm, onto the deck and then into a scupper full of water!
Not a scratch and works like a charm!

Re: Great White
Get a GoPro HD video camera that has 2 hours of nonstop running time and takes awesome stills. It's tiny and has a waterproof case and can go snorkeling/diving with you. $300. I gave one to my 22 year old son as a birthday present and he has used it kite boarding, windsurfing, on the roof of his car, on his ski helmet Yikes! http://www.goprocamera.com
