We finally took the boat out for a weekend and everything was beautiful. We made our trip to Montauk NY without a hitch. The only thing I noticed was that there were no boats out on the water. We saw a few out fishing but no cruising boats to speak of. The marina we stayed at was less than half full and I must say it was kind of nice not having a crowd everywhere you went. I don't know if the fuel prices are the cause but we'll see as the summer winds up. We paid $3.10 a gallon in the Mystic river saturday but it was $4.20 a gallon in NY, yikes! Thank god for the fuel economy of a diesel engine.
Sea conditions were perfect on the way out but had 2' - 3' quartering seas on the way home, no problem there.
I hope everyone had a nice weekend. Denis

Denis,
Sounds like you a good time!
For the first time in years (see my earlier post) the weather was great and we decided to go fishing.
We went to the mouth of the Chester river, Love Point, and near the Bay Bridge. About a 30 mile run each way. Only caught one trolling at about 4 knots. (Rock are lazy. Prefer 2-3 knots I'm told)
The weather was perfect when we left but we got socked in by fog near the bridge. Since I was trolling anyway, it didn't really matter. I just turned on the radar and we did fine. Visibility was <1/8 mile for an hour or so but burned off slowly around noon.
Boat performed well. I ran around 3000 rpm/ 22-23 knots.
A little choppy on the way home but no problems.
We returned home "without incident" and without fish! But just being out there with friends and family is what it's all about.
