Discharge System
New owner of a 2004 28 TE Flushdeck....doing some trouble shooting, or trying to. First...looks like two Y valves. One in the head that controls whether the waste goes to the holding tank or overboard when you flush. The second contols whether the waste goes to the maserator or can be pumped out. OK so far? Now the electrical...I have an "overboard discharge" switch on the electrical panel and a masterator switch on the dash. What does the "overboard discharge" switch control? I assume the masterator switch controls the motor on the masterator. Was told when I bought the boat the maserator motor was frozen. Everytime you turned the overboard discharge switch on it would immediately switch off. So yesterday started to trouble shoot....thinking the masterator needed to be replaced, unhooked the motor to see what would be required to replace. Also, found the fuse by the masterator switch on the dash was popped. So with the motor still unhooked replaced the fuse and it immediately popped. Any thoughts?

Re: Discharge System
The overboard discharge is for the waste tank macerator and the macerator switch at the helm is for the fish box.

Re: Discharge System
The macerator pump has a slot for a flat blade screwdriver that rotates the armature on the end opposite the pump. It might be worth rotating it to see if the motor will work before replacing it. It might just be seized from not being used for a long time. We just brought our baitwell pump back to life last Saturday by a similar method.

Re: Discharge System
It works.....turned a few times with a flat head screw driver and it cranked up. Saved me $145 and a messy install. Thanks.

Re: Discharge System
OK...another question. Any "easy" way to determine how full the holding tank is?

Drew,
There should be a gauge in the head on the left side facing the mirror.

I just lift up the little hatch under my helm seat and use the "eyeball" gauge...Drew wrote:OK...another question. Any "easy" way to determine how full the holding tank is?

Re: Discharge System
On some of the white polyethylene tanks there is no gauge. Particularly as they clog up easily. If it is a poly tank you can shine a flashlight on the side. Slide the flashlight up and down and you can see where the level changes from the light going through the poly tank wall.
