cooling water

Post by special k »

o.k. maybe not a maintenance question, but my first year with the albin.
preparing her for launch and running the motor with a garden hose feeding the seawater strainer.
notice water coming out around the propeller shaft......normal??

think i saw this addressed once before. if this is normal what is the purpose?

If you have a dripless stuffing box this is normal because they have a small hose supplying sea water to cool the shaft seal. This water exits out the cutlass bearing.
