Craig, Ann & Erik - Dora Jo - South River, MD
Hi AOG,
New Albin owners - 28TE. Got her last July, but don't think we properly introduced ourselves to AOG. Dora Jo was formally of Eastport, and now is on Beard's Creak off the South River at Erik's house. He's my bro-n-law, and Ann is my wife.
Love the boat. Cummins power. Some issues with a high temp, which we hope to iron out this season. Also need to figure out how to get fish out of the Bay and into the boat.
Great forum. Look fwd to meeting some fellow owners in Solomons in July.
Blue Skies,
Craig

Welcome to the group. I also have a Cummins in my 32. Never had an overheating problem but start at the strainer under the boat & work your way up.
I have found that the most efficeint way of getting fish out of a body of water & onto a dinner plate involves the seafood section of a supermarket. This method eliminates the burning of my fuel & the purchase of very expensive fishing tools which, like golf clubs, usually don't work very well.

Well said! I gave up golf for boating and fishing, so far I've managed to spend more on fishing.
We've worked through the entire cooling system at this point, so can't wait to see what finally fixes it.

Don't mean to double check you but I am double checking. Have you taken the heat exchanger off & cleaned it out? The inter cooler (Ithink)?
I had an impeller distruct & bits of blades got wedged in all kinds of places they should not have been,
The boat ran in this condition, but only if rpm was below 1200.

Thanks John,
and to Veebyes2.... oh yeah, we've done the impeller, thermostat, exchanger, sender etc. Leaving to meat Cummins there today, so If were lucky and get it fixed, I will post the entire sequence for the AOG to reference.
Appreciate the input!!

Turns out the water pump was bad. Not sure why this wasn't one of the first things checked when the other mechanics were busy changing thermostats, sending units etc. Now that I've learned the whole system in an expensive manner, it seems straight forward - 20/20 hindsight. Fixed now
Will put the whole story up in the engine forum.

Sounds like a good time to rebuild the old pump & keep it onboard as spare. That way you will never need it.

Was it the raw water pump or the engine circulating pump?

RWP, Sherwood I believe. Had been leaking and was creating restriction. 5PSI was all it was producing I believe.

One more thing, here is the link to Tony Athens on this pump
http://sbmar.com/main/articles/dealing_ ... _6bta_5.9/
I could kick myself for having Cummins put another sherwood in, which will probably go bad again based on all i read
