Carbon Monoxide Alarm Wiring

Post by johnmurray »

When I was replacing the carbon monoxide alarms in my boat I managed to short out the wires so there is now no power in the circuit. I believe that the circuit is "hard wired" so it cannot be turned off, but there is probably an in-line fuse somewhere that has opened.
I took a look but I cannot see where the power to the circuit originates or where there might be an in-line fuse that I can check. Any suggestions?

All of the "all the time" systems on my boat are wired to a single bus bar. All the bilge pumps, CO detector, radio memory circuit, etc. All the inline fuses are within 7" or so of that bus bar. Next option would be new positive wire install with fuse :)

John, Is it the buss behind the dash? Behind the mirror in the head? Thats the only place I have found inline fuses.

Carl,
Yeah, that's where I found mine. Shut the main switch off and test them, you'll probably find one that still has power. I found mine by accident  If I remember correctly, four inline fuses there.
Are you in the water yet?

John, Not yet, hope to get the bottom touched up and the waxing done this weekend. Maybe next week?
