Is it Spring yet?

Post by jcollins »

Weather this weekend.

Today
Sunny. Highs in the upper 40s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph.

Sunday
Sunny. Highs in the lower 50s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph.

Monday
Sunny. Highs in the mid 50s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph.

I'm thinking of calling in sick on Monday. Oh..that's right, I work for me. I'll just leave myself a message. 8)

Smells like spring here (RI) today. A noisy cardinal woke me at 5:30 this morning. Sure sign that something is up.

Must be spring. Temps in the high 60s & nice & sunny for a change. Ahhhh, the smell of spring. I've been doing a little resin work today on my transom door cap. Had a few cracks that water got into & rotted the wood inside. Opened the cracks, worked lots of resin inside & filled.

The Northeast is getting slammed with rain and flooding. Maryland has been spared this time around. We have had some very high tides but not much damage. This weekend is looking very good for us. I hope our friends "up the coast" have a good week.

The good news about all the flooding is you can take the boat to work!

As Rob said in another post taking the shirnk wrap off is just like Christmas. That was done a couple of weeks ago. Launched on Friday and spent the day cleaning up.
Saturday was cruise day. Gunpowder, Middle River, Pooles Island.
Started out at 8-10 knots for almost an hour just to get things warmed up and check all systems. 16-20 knots for the next couple of hours. The Bay was calm and so was I.
No vibration with the freshly tuned prop. Next week install new radome and refrigerator.

We are off to a great start for the 2010 season.

See you on the water!

Good to hear John, we splashed on friday as well and did the shakedown cruise to St Michaels today to look at the famous ship Bounty. We actually saw her coming down the Eastern Bay on our way into the Miles and took a short circle around her. After lunch she showed up, and was supposed to dock at the Maritime Museum, but she anchored out in the river. So on the way back we circled a little closer, beautiful old boat. Still have some clean up to do in the cabin and de-winterise the fresh water system, but so far so good!
