Wife says I'm out of my mind
My bride and I commute together as we both work in downtown Boston. Each morning we drive over the Zakim Bridge which overlooks our marina and Boston Harbor. This morning we're driving in as usual and I look over the water and say to her, "It's a beautiful day to be on the water." To which my bride says, "We've been married for 7 years. And for 7 years, every time we drive over this bridge, whether it's sunny, raining, snowing, sleeting or freezing rain you say the exact same thing. It's a beautiful day to be on the water. You are totally out of your mind."
That may be so, but it really is a beautiful day to be on the water! Bring on the Spring. Heading down to the boat today at lunch with a Randy Wayne White novel and will climb under the shrink wrap and get my sea legs back.

Re: Wife says I'm out of my mind
I purposely drive out of my way, over the Key bridge, instead of going through the tunnel every day so I can see the water in the harbor. Your wife is right. We are all crazy.

I say the same things, I love the look, the smell even the thought of the ocean. My wife also thinks I am crazy, but I'm OK with that. I suppose that is why water front homes and boats are so expensive, they know we are crazy.

Gotta love the smell of bottom paint in April or May.

Re: Wife says I'm out of my mind
Couple of weeks ago I went out fishing on a party boat. The temperature was 14 degrees when I left the house in the Morning. Warmed up to about 22 degres and 15 knot breeze. Still a beautiful day on the water.

I'll drive by our marina and it doesn't even look like there is a marina there...docks are pulled in, water and power all disconnected...just a river. But I know what's going to be there in a couple of months, and I can't wait!

Went down to the boat a couple to weeks ago to shovel the snow out of the cockpit (didn't bother to cover this year.... mistake). It still felt good to be on the boat doing something! Remember: Daylight savings time in one week and spring in two weeks....It's almost boating again!

Re: Wife says I'm out of my mind
My family grouses every time they go over the Newport bridge and pay a toll. I always say the toll is well worth the glorious view of Narragansett Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.
I go for walks around Beavertail Point all winter and soak up the salt smell, the roar and hiss of breakers shattering against granite, the smudge of Block Island on the horizon. Every day is a great day to be near/on/looking at/smelling salt water.
Went to the boatyard today, OTTER was nice and warm under the shrink wrap. Launch day is in sight.

We went down to check out Blue Moon over the weekend. Still shrink wrapped, but cozy inside. I think my wife is having more fun decorating and making it ours than I am....which is good....I think!

This is roughly my commute to and from work. Lots of good views of the bay.
