Back to Essex Island Marina, CT in 2010 - 7/23 to 7/25

Post by RobS »

Due to 100% positive feedback about EIM before, during and after the 2009 rendezvous, before departing I had EIM pencil us in for the same weekend in 2010. Ric Murray (RicM) has volunteered as the 2010 coordinater. I just figured I'd get the dates out to the group.

That gives me 9 months to work on the Admiral to go by boat. 8) Wonder what else we can do in 9 months?

Hey all, it's the new year (actually the 3d) and it's officially time to start chatter about the 2010 Rendezvous. First order of business is to thank Rob & Erika for the great job they did last year. I'm hoping to to do at least as well, otherwise I'll never hear the end of it from Rob (who still harasses me for alledgedly undertipping a cab driver in Boston in '08). I am open to any suggestions for changes and improvements, activities interests etc.
Let's get a head count going as well....

The crew of TOY-RIFIC are looking fwd to doing it again in 2010 and totally enjoyed coordinating last year's event and certainly appreciated all the thank you's and compliments we received.

My girls would once again be honored as the name-tag makers, if that's okay. Let me know what we can do.

John you are welcome to stop at my house we are on Barnegat Bay always room for an Albin. It is about an 8- 9 hour run from here, last year we spent a night in Jersey City and had dinner in NY on the way up , nice marina with ferry service into Manhattan. Only about 3 hours to NY from here. I believe we made Essex in about 6 hours the next day. Happy to help you stage the trip up or back .

I would like to vote for "The 2nd Annual On-Boat Massages by Karen"

If interest from the group is lacking I don't mind if I have to go more than once

It's early to start thinking about marina reservations, I haven't even broken all my New Year's resolutions yet. Got Block penned in for earlier in July, so will need to take care of EIM as well. Hideaweigh with Ann and Dave will be there.

The Captain (Mrs.) has already started booking reservations. :D

On the list

Mtk Yacht Club
American Wharf
Newport
Essex still to be booked (not sure if they are open yet or taking reservations)
Westhampton Beach to be booked (not sure if they are open yet or taking reservations)

Gives us something to look forward to while it's still cold out!

Gery,

Essex (EIM) wants a deposit around May 1 I believe. If you are coming to Newport let's co-ordinate, as Karen & I are in Wickford (just across the bay, 30 minutes) and either we will visit you in Newport or you can come to Wickford (www.wickfordvilage.org). There are a couple of cool, funky boatyards over here, cheaper, but not as much cachet. Are you doing Newport after Essex?

Gery,
IMO, I'd bag MYC and opt for Snug Harbor. TOY-RIFIC spent a couple nights at Amer Wharf at the end of the summer. It was a great ride and great place. Dockmaster Mike Valentine is a class act. The complimentary shuttles to Mohegan added a little something different to our normal "Transient Vacationing"

I'd also recommend taking Ric up on his offer for him and Karen to meet up with you in Newport or show you around Wickford - Great People and Great Places, it don't get much better than that....

Hey Ric
That would be great to meet up in Newport! We'll be there July 19-22 then moving on to America's Wharf then onto Essex from what I understand.
We're a long way off so we can coordinate as the time gets closer.

We haven't been to Newport for a couple years and we'll be at the Newport Hotel Harbor and Marina. The Black Pearl has a huge bowl of New England Clam chowder with my name on it! It's my all time favorite.

Rob - We've been to both and opted for the MYC so Marissa can play in the pool. It's pricey but there is some nostalgia in play

Haven't been to America's Wharf - we are looking forward to checking it out.

The women are chatting on Facebook from what I understand.
Anne might log in as me, or she may sign up as a member here (hint)

Gotta go for now

Feels like zero degrees out there.
