Access to engines on twin 31 or 35

Post by sharffj »

Wondering how difficult it is to access the engines (Cummins 370) on at 31 or 35 TE. Anyone have any tricks for the port side of the port engine??
Thankes

I have the 31 with Twin 315's. So far seems to have plenty of access to both sides of engines as long as you can fit and twist down the hacthes. If I was 5'2" it would be a bit easier though

I have the 35 with twin Cummins 370s. Starboard is much easier, although I installed a teak and holly floor. It comes up very easily in large sheets over each engine hatch. Just unbolt the helm seat first and then you can reach the 4 bolts that secure the starboard hatch. Luckily the routine maintenance areas on the port engine are easy to reach and can be reached through the centerline hatch. Oil, transmission fluid, air filters, etc. Fuel water separators, sea strainers for engines, and AC units and batteries are all easy to reach. The port side access is a pain as you need to remove the bench seat and table before the engine cover. No simple tricks that I know of. But it forces you to reorganize anything you store there! Good luck.
