Headliner

Hi everyone I have purchased a 1988 27' Albin Family Cruiser and need to do some interior teak work in order to do this I need to remove the headliner however I have not found a way to do this with out replacing it with a new one as the one that is there is still in good shape. If anyone has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated.

Bite the bullet & get a new headliner put in. While you are at it remove all the ports. You most likely have rot in the balsa core. Been there. Fixed that when I had a 27. Planning to do same job on my 32 this winter.

Thank you for your suggestion. I would have bitten the bullet and went ahead and replaced the headliner and the other things you suggested however the gentelman that I bought it from had already had that done but negelected to refinish the teak, why go to all that trouble and not refinish the teak I have no idea. So my question stands is there anyway to remove the headliner without having to pelace it.

More than likely the headliner is stapled onto some type of wood strip along the perimeter and may or may not be adhered to the underside of the deck. I think you are going to have a very difficult time removing the liner without compromising it. You could try pulling the staples under the teak strip and very carefully pulling the liner, but I think the odds of you being able to re-install the liner in a way that looks right are bad.
