Albin 27 aft cabin to Albin 34

Post by Marcy K »

Hello Group,

We have been members of the Albin Yahoo group for 10 years since the purchase of our A 27 aft cabin "Willet". After 10 years of cruising the NE - Block Island, Cuttyhunk, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket curcuit, we have recently (2 weeks ago) purchased an A 34 with a flybridge and large deck off the flybridge. We chose this model because of the galley down configuration. It gives us much more actual living space than the galley up on the A 36. The deck gives us a 4th living area. We are about to bring her up the CT River for the winter and will return her to Westbrook CT for next summer. It has been very difficult to find out any info on the rare 34s (we did see a soft top that looked like an A 27 on steroids) on Cape Cod). I think they were only made for a couple of years at the most - our is a 1986. It has the Cummins 210 turbo engine. She does have some leaks that will be addressed this winter - also needs hoses replaced and new batteries (she has 2 car batteries right now) to be set up for living at anchor which is what we do when out for 4 weeks or more. Question - where can we find out more about this model? We have loved our A27 and she is now up for sale. Thank you. Marcy & Ron

I saw a 34 in Essex, CT about 5 years ago. It was not in very good shape then. Also saw one, blue hull, full hardtop, at the NY show in 88? I think I may still have brochures for the 34. Won't be back in Bermuda till early Nov. Could scan them if I have them.

Where up the Ct river do you store?
I am at Yankee in Portland. At the dock now due to get hauled tomorrow or wednesday.
I am about to do a repower with a truck Cummins I am marinizing. I'd love to be able to come aboard and take some pics of the enigne to know how the hoses are routed, etc.

Hi,

Thank you for the replies - I'd greatly appreciate it if Doug has the brochures if he could scan them. Jay - we are going to winter at the Midway Marina in Haddam. We kept Willet at Yankee in the winter for a couple of years in the beginning. You are welcome to take pictures - Ron's cell is 860.604.1570 and he will be spending a lot of time on board as soon as she goes up river. The furniture will be removed and the whole floor will be lifted for easier access. Marcy

I used to store the previous boat at Midway. Nice folks there and a very quiet spot in the winter and zero flood worries. LOL Close your eyes when they move your boat up the hill.
This boat is too heavy for them so I picked Yankee. They are nice as well.

We've had our 1988 Albin 34 for a year now.
We had a wonderful summer going from Victoria up through Desolation Sound to the Broughton Islands.
Yes, the alternator packed it in and the pulpit snapped off, but it was a great summer anyway.
We love the boat and will be returning to the B.C. waters with a new improved pulpit next summer.
If you get those brochures, we'd love to see them.

Noticed the mention of brochures possibly available fon the 34 full hardtop. Am in process of purchasing an 88 hardtop.. Would love to have a copy. Just joined the site and am enjoying the various info that is available.

I realize this was posted a while back but have you sold your 27 or is it still available?
