Rainy Day in Baltimore

Post by jcollins »

Rain, cold, yuck. So we didn't go to the shack today (or the boat) and I have time on my hands. I revamped the site a little. Give it a try before you tell me you hate it. Just like anything else it takes awhile to get used to it.

Ft. Meade

I made quite a few trips to Ft. Meade over the last year while my Daughter was stationed there. It seems like it rained on each trip. However, the last trip was to BWI on a bright sunny day. She flew to Ft. Gordon, GA. where she'll be for a while with the 206th MI Bn. No more Baltimore runs.

new form for the forum

Post by AlMar »

Well, I did like you said. I was convinced I wouldn't like it, cause I don't like change :? But I said to myself, no, give it some time. I HAVE gotten used to it, but the only attribute of it that I do not like, believe it or not, is the colors  Maybe an Albin blue instead of the grey. I have some pretty good equipment here, it's just not the right contrast for my old eyes

Almar and Chief,
Thanks for the comments. The colors are a little washed out. I'll take a look at changing them.
All comments are appreciated and I wouldn't be upset if you guys wanted it back the way it was. That change would only take a few minutes.

Still getting used to it. I still 'feel' like the older version was easier to use but I've got to give this one a few more days. It is very nice looking but the whole idea of a forum is information exchange. The photos at the top (Veebyes and Jack must have paid you off!! :) ) are a nice touch but make it harder to 'sneak' a look at the forum while in the office, and require me to scroll down to see if anything new's been posted. I also liked seeing who had posted a new entry in a sub-forum that used to be shown on the main index page.

All of that said I need to add that I am VERY happy that you (John) have taken on this whole effort, I've gained a tremendous amount of Albin knowledge thanks to this forum - if the new look makes you happy then I'm ok with it!

I think the old forum was easier to navigate, had less scrolling around, and looked just as good. After looking at this for a couple of days my though is to change back. Typical computer guy.

Come to thing of it...I'll have BOTH setup. The default will be the old interface. The new one is called RAID. If anyone likes it, you will be able to choose it in your profile.

Now THAT is a computer guy! Parameter driven with multiple interfaces!

All you need to do now is set it up so I can location drive my profile...Work IP gets the old interface, home gets the new...

(Just kidding!)

Again, nice job. Thanks!

UPDATE

Post by jcollins »

I have reenabled the old look of the forums. This can now be controlled in your user profile. Under "Board Style" choose SubSilver for old and Raid for new.

enjoy...

Post by TonyAmalfitano »

I can select RAID, or SubSILVER for board style. Where the heck is the default?

Thanks for bringing back the 'classic'!

BTW - you might put an entry in the 'Welcome' message so new folks know there's a second display style.
