I am in the process of buying a new house on a canal. There is a late model boat lift rated at 10,000 lbs.
Can I hope for this to work for my Albin 28? I understand, adjustment will be needed.

The advertised weight of the the TE 28 is 8500 lbs. Add another 1000 for full fuel and water. You are very close.

You may be able to increase your margin of safety, especially in hurricane season (make sure that the cables you have are in good shape in any event), by using the next larger size lift cables if the lift configuration will accept them. Also, 3/4 HP motors would be better than 1/2 HP ones, if that is what you have. Suspect that the total lift system needs to be looked at closely as one change may impact something else...
