rod holder backing plates

Post by mackidaddy »

Hi All,
Has anyone had success mounting rod holder backing plates? If so, where did you find the backing plates? I assume the best way to gain access is to take out the liners in the cockpits?

Fisherman's Outfitter / Gloucester .... http://www.fishermansoutfitter.com/p-16 ... Plate.aspx They have other sizes in the shop. Also I've had Modern Air on Causeway St. near Sudbay cut stainless steel backing plates for various projects, ie; outriggers & mast.

If you are thinking of Tuna (which I know you are) make sure you pick-up some swivel adapters too. I did add two "0" degree Tigress Swivel RO's in the transom for the bent butts. This year I picked-up two 15 degree swivel RO's and a "0" thinking I would replace the 2 existing port side this year and add a zero as well. Stbd. next year. You are correct the gunnel inserts need to be removed for access.

Nice to see you on the hook a couple of weeks ago. JP had stopped by that day in his tin boat saying he saw you on the hook, but no sign of life. He sold his house and decided to rent for a year in Essex and enjoy life on Hardy Creek on the other side of Hog Island. He and Alley Kat are doing the river rat thing this season and trying to enjoy the beach / if the sun ever comes out again!

Good Luck.
