I use a short segment of hose to remove the water heater from the loop so that I can pump anti-freeze to all of the other piping.

That is also how I winterize. Drain and bypass.

Ditto hear ..... I was disappointed for you when reading your post of being stuck on the hard & now this ... Still confused as to why there would be no hot water generated from the coolant loop from the engine. I'm not an expert, but I'm scratching my head on this one. Usually the electrical heating element goes and the loop heat works.

It appears so. I imagine due to the large volume of water in the tank it resulted in a diluted solution as opposed to displacing the water with pink stuff. The heat exchanger and other engine components on the raw water side of the engine have such a high flow to volume ratio that you end up with all or nearly all pink stuff. Well, to look on the bright side, (which you once commented I do so well) if I was going to pick something to freeze and burst I certainly wouldn't want it to say Yanmar on it!

This was a COLD winter. As you know I am in the business of handling property damage claims. Last winter I could count the freeze-up claims on one hand . This year we had hundreds of claims come in involving frozen plumbing systems in homes and commercial buildings

Good new is my new sounder and thru-hull ducer works awesome and can read 3 ft of water at 22 knots

Now if we can only get the forward looking depth sounders. It went from 5 feet to 2.8 in one boat length. I was going about 12 knots at the time. That took some of the new bottom paint off.

At least we don't have to worry about doing this....

Ouch on that prop and hull! My shakedown went well, been using Legacy quite a bit over the past few weeks. And then all went sour, at least smell-wise. Y valve for mascerator/holding tank/pump out line must have frozen over the winter. During a pumpout some of the "effluvia" didn't quite make it out of the boat completely. Nothing a little bleach, a swine flu mask and quick work with a wrench couldn't fix. Sticky situation solved!

You know, if you've got the cash, Interphase makes a line of forward scanning sonars. We have an older one on Nordvika which I pretty much consider to be garbage. I understand that the newer ones are a lot better though.
