We have molds for 28' Albin (need to move them).

Post by BBAI »

I am the Director for Bladen's Bloomin' Agri-industrial, Inc. We currently have the molds for the 28' Albin that Palmer Marine/Bladen Composites abandoned at the new manufacturing facility we built for him in Bladenboro, NC. We are disposing of the molds and a boat they had just started manufacturing as a part of our effort to get back part of the loan Palmer has defaulted on. Please let me know if you know anyone who may be interested. We do not have high expectations as to what we will get, but we need to move them quickly. Leave a phone # and I will call.

For those that may doubt this post. It is real. This gentleman called me today before posting.

I'm in for a hundred too
So how much more do you need?
What's a molds valve? Anyone know? Seems most of the value in a mold is intangible.

"So how much more do you need?"

Sounds like we might just need to come up with trucking costs. If they can be stored outside I know a place.

Very disappointing. In these economic times that mold is heading to the land fill :(

It sounds to me like the issue is storage and transportation. Does anyone on the east coast have room to store something like that?

It would be a real shame to think about these molds ending up in a landfill. Thats why if we had pics we could see what we were really talking about here. Are we talking about just the hull and various decks? Newport, Flushdeck and motor box versions? Roofs and hatches? There could be as many as 10 different hatch molds alone, or more, if they have them all. Hauling and storing the hull and deck molds would be costly. Trying to obtain the smaller molds like the roofs and hatch molds could save us all a lot of time and money down the road, if we hang onto these boats for years to come.

I am not a lawyer but I think anyone who moves or takes possession of these molds and tooling should consider if Fred Peters is still the legal owner and could claim ownership of them at a later date. I was led to believe that the final purchase of the molds never took place. If that is the case, then I have to assume that Fred Peters or other owners of the old Albin may still be the legal owner.

I agree that these molds shouldn't be sent to a landfill. The 28 Albin design is an excellent design and does not seem dated. There should be an organization in Maine or North Carolina that would have space to store these molds and perhapsthe molds for the larger Albin models until there is a glimmer of revival in the boat business.

I can confirm that the purchase was never completed, but I was told that the company was bankrupt and there was no one to claim the molds. Also, we are under the impression that the real estate (boat facility) was sold and redeveloped. I have no idea who Fred Peters is. We have asked several times if there was a legal claimant and have gotten no response. However, the attorney did mention someone possibly contacting me this week.

I may have access to shipping and storage and happy to tuck a mold or two away to preserve the brand for later.
