Mack Boring course?
Has anyone taken a Mack Boring diesel engine maintenance course and would you recommend it? Also, any recommendations for a good manual describing maintenance procedures (Yanmar specific or not)? Thanks.

I would highly recommend course. The big plus is you get to play on the engine specific to your vessel.

I took the one-day introductory diesel course in Massachusetts a few weeks ago and thought the information valuable and teacher first rate. I have signed up for the two-day, hands-on course to be given in May at Mack Boring's main branch in New Jersey. Expensive, but for someone with no diesel experience and little mechanical ability I think I'll be much, much less anxious about maintaining the Yanmar on my new-to-me Albin.
