AOG Members Map
Sharon suggested it a couple of years ago but the technology just wasn't there. Veebyes suggested it again this past weekend. Updated technology has made it much easier. Give it a try. Click on the link in the Information Section.

Re: AOG Members Map
The map is starting to grow.
Russell - you are down there. I really had no idea.
Richard - I didn't know you were so far up the Wye. We are planning to visit you guys in June. It will be a nice cruise. How far from Eastern Bay?

John:
We are about 6 miles up from the mouth of the Wye where it empties into the Miles River and Eastern Bay . I can make it from the Rt 50 bridge at Kent Narrows to my dock in about 45 minutes running at about 15-16 Knots and up from the mouth of the Wye in about 20 minutes. The Wye is a great river to cruise (deep and scenic) and a good side trip is to circle Wye Island. The island is about 12 miles around and is about 90 percent state owned (Natural Resources Management Area). There is a fixed bridge with a 10 ft clearance (at high tide) which I can easily pass under by droping my radio antenna. There are also several good gunkholes in the creeks running up into the island. Wye island was settled in the 1600's and half of it was once owned by William Paca a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Lots of history and lots of wildlife.
We have probably made the trip around the island at least 20 times and love it every time. You have to do it to see what I mean. After you do that, we will meet you at the dock with cold ones in hand.

Re: AOG Members Map
I am on the map now. It will be fun to see it when everyone has a chance to put themselves on. Looks like I am all alone for now It does take a minute to figure out how to get your location up there. I see a lot of "views" but not that many on the map yet ?

Yes, it took me a while to notice the log in on the upper right. But I like the way you can zoom in and really see where people are located. I am hoping will find someone close enough to get together.

Re: AOG Members Map
I have had a few emails asking how to update the map.
After you logon to the site, click on the AOG Members Map Link.
When the map loads, click on Sign-in (upper right corner)
username is <removed for non-registered users>
password is <removed for non-registered users>
After you are logged in click on the Edit button (left side of page)
Find your spot on the map, right-click and choose Add Placemark.
You can put the name of your boat and your name in the Title field.
Add any descriptive text you like and click on OK.
It will save your changes after a few seconds.
Click on the "Done" button (left side of page)
That's it!

Re: AOG Members Map
Would it clutter up the map too much by adding favorite cruising destinations?

Re: AOG Members Map
I don't see a problem with it if we can limit to 2 or 3 per member. Try to watch out for duplication as alot of members are from the same region. For example if someone has already pinned Hart-Miller Island, rather than pin again, just add your comments to the description area. I know seeing other peoples comments will help me plan for my trip in June.Veebyes2 wrote:Would it clutter up the map too much by adding favorite cruising destinations?
Good idea!

Re: AOG Members Map
John,
Can we use a different color/icon for places of interest.
It would be nice to quickly separate members from places.
Just a thought,
John

Sure...when you click to add the placemark, click on the icon. There are a bunch to choose from.furball wrote:John,
