BOSTON BOAT SHOW
Looked at the new Albin Express 28 at the show. I was not impressed. Fit and finish was not very good at all. Panels in the cockpit were improperly installed and set in place with caulking. Even that was sloppy.
The dealer told me this was put together at the new plant. I hope this is not what we can expect from Palmer Marine.
I had been looking forward to seeing one of these boats in person for a long time. It was on the top of my list as my next boat. I was thoroughly disappointed.

Re: BOSTON BOAT SHOW
Agree with your observation. I have owned a catalina and hunter sailboat in addition to our albin 26 and am used to production boats. The express that was at the show looked like it was a hurry up delivery for the show. There were lots of areas that just did not show quality finish work. Hopefully, it will change. I did not get a chance to ask where it was made as the dealer was talking to customer. Thanks for finding out...

Re: BOSTON BOAT SHOW
I was at the show as well and observed the same thing as you. Finish workmanship was very sloppy, my 84 FC is put together far better than what I witnessed. I was also hoping to see more than the 28, maybe the 30FC. I was very impressed with the Back Coves, the 29 is a thing of beauty. The prices are a little steep compared to Albin, but the workmanship was far superior to the 28 at the show.

Re: BOSTON BOAT SHOW
The show boat unfortunately was stripped and not well appointed. It certainly would have been nice to see a little flash. IMO that was not the level of finish to be a closer. I will say it was nice to see a factory rep on board, in addition to Ken from Standish. Glad to see Ken is getting a little support.

Re: BOSTON BOAT SHOW
I saw an Albin 31 and Shamrock side by side at the Annapolis show. The Albin was a pre-Shamrock boat that was very nice. The Shamrock's vynil was very thin and rumpled in places where it was pulled or stretched to fit. Seams were not straight. Trim was coming apart. Headliner was puckered, stitching off. The wood trim was rough and bubbly. Not sanded very well ,or at all, before the last coat was applied.
I was wondering when someone else would mention this.

Re: BOSTON BOAT SHOW
Spoke with a good pal who owns a successful boat dealership in MA. Overall traffic was up at the show and a few boats were sold, but below their already reduced goals. He's very concerned 50% of boat manufacturers and 50% of boat dealers will go away by the end of the year. Hope it's not that dire. We need some confidence in the markets so everyone on this board should go out and buy another boat!

Well, oh, darn (sheepishly looking around, slowly kicking sand, hands in pocket) O.K ! Where do I sign? What!!??? You mean I can't just sign anymore? You want a REAL credit application? Sorry, too late. I already bought a second boat last year. I did my part.

Re: BOSTON BOAT SHOW
The Albin 38 and 32(31) that were being shown by Shamrock were boats that were on the line and 2/3 done when Albin shut down. Bladen did finish the boats though.
