You may be anchoring in deeper water than we have on the Chesapeake Bay but here we usually anchor in 10 to 15 feet of water. After tying on a nylon pigtail for many years on my sailboat I changed my all chain rode to 50 feet of chain and the rest nylon. When the nylon reached the water I cleated off and was set for the night. It was perfect for these depths. Less weight in the bow was great too. I needed a wheel barrow to carry away the 200 feet of chain.
