32 vs 35
I am wondeing what the differences are between the 32+2 and the 35 Command Bridge? We want a cuise/fishing boat for the inland waters and offshore Gulf of Mexico. We are capable seamen as we cruised in a 40 Baba sailboat and we took our 32 up the Tombigbe to Tenneesee.
We would like to purchase one up the east coast and take our time coming home.

The difference in one word is COCKPIT. All Albin did to create the 35 was move the transom back to the end of the platform. Voila! A 35 without a platform. No cabin changes.

Glad you speak French--my native lanquage is Cajun French- I had a 32 and it was a little top heavy in a following sea, did the 32+2 or the 35 solve that porblem???-Merci Beaucup--ne travais pas dur--

I have never paid close attention to burn at any given speed however my average has been just under 3gph. I do very little high speed running confining it to maybe a mile or so at the end of a weekend just before returning to my mooring to keep the injectors clean.
Most of my running is at hull speed, quite often towing a 14' skiff. it also includes a couple hours of genny time each weekend.
A rough calculation for fuel burn for a diesel at WOT is 5% of rated hp gives gph. 300hp engine/15gph WOT. Slow down to hull speed & efficiency increases dramatically.

Thanks, on the gulf coast we need to run out 60 to 90 miles to get tuna or big snappers---we usually leave on a Thursday and spend the week out-- we need about 400 miles range at 15 to 16 knots so we have time to fish----I quess hull speed on 35 is about 10 knots--that is just too slow for long runs

Good luck on finding a 15kt/400mile range boat under 40' long. At 260gal capacity the Albin carries as much fuel as many larger twin engined boats which have to sacrifice human space for engine/fuel tank space.

If it's any help, I have the 35TE with twin Cummins 370s with an added extended range fuel tank to hold a total of 340 gallons. I cruise economically at 18-20 knots depending on the sea, WOT 29 knots.

In two foot seas my A32 Sportfish has a 400 mile range at 17kt cruise with 20% fuel to spare.
17knots = 19.56mph
At 17kts I burn 10.1 GPH. That's 1.93 miles per gallon.
I hold 260 gallons of fuel (two 130 gallon tanks, standard on most 32 Albins).
With 20% of fuel as a reserve, I realistically have 208 gallons of fuel to burn.
208 X 1.93mpg = 401 mile range
In a more realistic view, here is reality- Here on Long Island, the tip of the Hudson Canyon is about a 70 mile run from Fire Island Inlet. The seas are not often calm. We usually have swells, waves or waves on top of swells. Sometimes we have confused seas with waves out of the SouthWest and Swells out of the East. I usually cruise at 18.5 to 19kts in most of those conditions (that's the best part about an Albin- you can cruise through almost anything without having to slow down). At that cruise the 70 mile run usually takes around four hours on my 32' Sportfish. Upon arrival to the canyon I can always anticipate burning only 1/3 of ONE of my tanks. That's 43 gallons to travel 70 miles in four hours or 1.62 miles per gallon. That leaves me with a range of 339 miles in moderate to heavy seas at 18.5 to 19kts. I suppose I could throttle down to 15 to 17 knots to increase my range and/or conserve fuel but since the boat cuts through the slop so nicely there is no reason to prolong the time it takes to get out there.
Hope these numbers help. I guess it all depends on what you plan to do once you get out there. If you need a ton of extra fuel for trolling and scouting around then the quick-fix answer to your concerns is just to bring along a collapsible portable fuel tank to replenish what you burn on the way out there. You can carry an extra 50 gallons of fuel with you and then you have the range that you desire.
