All is well?

Post by jcollins »

The board has been very quiet over the last few days. I'm guessing that everyone is busy with the holidays enjoying family, friends, and time off. The weather here last week was rainy but the temps have pretty much been above freezing. This past weekend we had temps in the 50s on Saturday and 60+ yesterday. So nice, that Furball began spring waxing. Today's high is in the 50s again!

I hope everyone had a good Christmas and have a safe and fun New Year's Eve!

For me, it's been a combination of the holidays, the weather, and work. I'm not sure if anyone has noticed, but we're EXTREMELY busy in the mortgage industry right now. I've been working 12 hour days for the last few weeks. All of my Christmas shopping was done on Christmas Eve at the last minute, and when I wasn't working or attending family events, I was shoveling snow, or shuttling around friends and relatives who didn't have four wheel drive. I'm only taking the time to make some posts today becuase I feel like I need to give the site some attention. I really should be working.

We're alive and kicking. Holidays, business and still taking care of my Dad doesn't leave a lot of computer time....
I'm hoping that next year is a better year for all. Happy New Year everyone......

All is well in Ct. Been busy over the holidays. Not much in boating going on around here right now...other than I may take a ride to the boatyard this weekend to make sure the tarp is secure.
Might start on some of my projects soon...but then there's always tomorrow

Busy at the shop most days, spend nights dreaming about the water (might just be my prostate telling me something though, water dreams) Went down yesterday, beautiful weather just a bit windy, mounted up "Mahalo's" new tv dvd and spent an hour watching & rocking & smoking a nice fat cigar.. Hey that' sure is the life. If only it were spring

Economy is battering the advertising business but we're still doing pretty well. Visited "Legacy" yesterday, all ship shape. The marina owner told me it was still way too early to take the plastic off!

Was in DC over the Christmas holiday and took time to visit some of the museums. Lines were incredible but regardless of your political views, there was clearly a spirit of optimism I haven't seen an a while with the new administration preparing to come in. Hope we see a momentum shift in consumer confidence very soon.

New Years looks snowy any cold - - no surprise as this is Boston.

Hope to freshen the interior of the boat this Winter as well as the cockpit. Restoration is slow going. Love to paint her in the Spring, that'll depend on the economy (and negotiating with the wife).

Happy New Year all!

See you at the NE Rendezvous and if your plans bring you to Boston Harbor next Summer we have the Tall Ships coming in as well as the Volvo Ocean race.

Do you have to deploy the airbags to make them float?

Rick:

Glad to hear that advertising is OK in Boston. "Not Too Terrible is the new Good" as we say. I have been extremely fortunate so far. My major client has not slowed down, and because it's a privately held co. (with no appreciable debt) the owner sees this climate as one to gain market share on the rivals without that advantage. Their big tradeshow is the end of Jan and I am booked solid until then. If things slow down after that and real estate doesn't get a lot worse, I can coast into the middle of '09 if I have to. I'm enjoying the "no pressure" off season. Compared to last year when Dave & I were chopping up the helm with sawsalls, this is pretty low key. I have a list of minor projects. the only major (over $500) is to replace my #1 battery (thinking about 2 T105 deep cycles), as it's not doing a great job running the thruster & electronics at the same time. #2 battery does it fine, so I'm thinking #1 is getting tired.
I'm really looking forward to Essex, hope you all can make it. Boston Rendezvous was a great time. Karen & I talk about it all the time and once again, thank you for your excellent hospitality. We look forward to seeing all the Albineers (sounds like Mousekateers) in Essex! Happy New Year all!

We had a pretty nice Christmas here. Every day has been at or near 70. No boating but we went to a dock party onboard a friends 55'er Sunday. I'm looking at about a month & a half worth of house painting right now before I get serious about major renovations on my Albin, which won't see water again this year.

Looking forward to hitting the road again in our RV in April. Maybe we can meet some Albineers along the way. We will miss the Tall Ships when they visit Bermuda the second & third week of June. Seen them on previous visits. Always spectacular & we do not have navigation restrictions around them so amazing pics can be had. Oh well, this year in June we should be in the Pacific NW saying hello to Mariner before heading down 101 to San Francisco. :D
