All I got for Christmas was........

Post by zinbaad »

Is anyone getting any new goodies for their Albin's this Holiday Season ?
I figured getting the 31 TE in November was my Christmas present but there is a nice Magna Newport Grill wrapped up, a 22 HDTV w/dvd (in my dreams, Jabasco Oil changer
& who knows.
Anyone dreaming of some special goodies?

Resolution got a small nautical cross. Look like good craftsmanship. Got 1 for our boat, and two for family members with boats. Makes a nice gift.

Mine is getting another season in storage while we go RVing. 4 months to Alaska then 2 months doing the NE this year. 4 months to the NW is planned for next year. Maybe meet some Albin owners along the way. :D

Be sure to let me know when you're in the Seattle area. I will gladly take you for a ride on Nordvika, and can make some recommendations on where to visit and stay.

Besides the 28TE that we got last June, I already got my christmas present....a dr. shrink heat gun. You know you're getting old (or just overly practical) when a shrink wrap gun is a new toy! Isn't that the equivalent of giving your wife a washing machine for Christmas?

Anyway, while we're on the subject of our boats (aren't we always?), has anyone used a portable generator? We find it more fun to pick up a mooring when we are cruising, so the shore power hookup isn't an option. Last season, I ran the engine at high idle every so often to keep the batteries charged, but I don't like racking up engine hours and burning fuel this way. The cost of a built in marine genset is prohibitive, so I was thinking of going the portable (honda) route. Do these portable generators stand up to the salt air very well? I'd probably strap it on the swim platform when we reach our destination and it would probably be quieter than the hard wired, built in Kohler or equivalent.

I would be grateful for any advice.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, etc.

Colin, This has been discussed before - do some Searching and you will find a good amount of related feedback.

Unfortunately, Nordvika got shafted this year on Christmas propper, but she hasn't been ignored this holiday season. She got new bottom paint, a hull wax, new canvas, and a faulty GPS display was repaired.
