Slip Rates

Post by Capt Ron »

Since Albin owners are spread across the country, how about a little comparision of slip rates?
I'm on the Sandy Hook Bay, which has a million dollar view of New York City and easy access to the Atlantic ocean ( 20 minutes at Albin speed) The current rate is $100 per foot for grandfathered vessels and $125 for newcomers which includes water and 30 amp electric service. We're on stationary piers with 6 foot tides (a pain in the ass at low tide).
Let's hear from you.

Interesting question. This is my first season in a marina since 1996. I paid 2045.00, water included. Electric is about 12.00 per month.
So that works out to around 73.00 per foot. Seneca Creek. Pool, showers.
New floating dock with wide finger pier.

Here's a link to the marina

http://marinas.com/view/marina/5129

In 1995 I paid 1800.00 for a stationary pier.

$100/foot, WowZA...!! Is that every month? I have a 28TE and pay $240 per month plus electric usage. I don't have a view, I keep it in the water 365days per year. we have floating good quality docs, clean, safe, showers, laundry and good security. Grand Marina Alameda, CA,

Takes me about 1 hour to get to some of the fishing grounds in the pacific ocean, and various places in San Francisco Bay.

Up here at the Worlds Fair I paId $65 ft for April -Nov season, elec extra, nothing fancy. Not the greatest views, bit of jet noise but close to home which enables me to get out often. It would take me about one hour to reach Sandy Hook which I will find out next season.

I'm in Glen Cove Marina Glen Cove NY pay $115.00 includes 30 amp+H2O. Tide here is 8' and my slip seems like a mile from the parking lot. A long walk but I'm two boats from the main canal out, so its a plus in the end.

Ok, I think I get it, You are talking about a Seasonal rate... In that case for a yearly rate mine comes out to about $89/foot. A better comparison. Total brain fart..

I was in shock there for a while thinking that's what you paid a month. Having said that a berth on the San Francisco water front could run $130-$150/ft.

Here in beautiful Wickford RI I'm paying $105 ft for May1-Nov1, floating pier at the stern, 2 pilings just aft of the bow cleats on my 28TE. This includes electric & water, but no rest rooms or other emenities. Parking is very convenient but sometimes filled on Saturdays & July 4th. Easy walk to restaurants and liquor store. Quarter mile from home. It should be interesting to see if the marina stays full this year with the economy the way it is. The owner definitely took a few odd ducks in late in the season last year and that was way before the s#!t hit the fan.

I'm in Mystic, ct. I think my slip fee is $4200 per year (first mate pays the bills). May 1 thru Nov1. Strong floating docks, includes water and electric (and cable TV, but I won't have a TV on the boat). Very well protected marina with no current to contend with only wind never any fetch, downriver from all bridges, a nice 20 minute idle to open water. No pool (hence few kids), fairly clean bathrooms, decent parking.

At least I have SOMETHING cheaper than you lot in a place where fuel is over $8/gal!

The boat is on a revolving mooring. I own the mooring outright :D but pay a $75/year registration fee. The Government has to get some $$ out of my hide somehow :x . I do my own annual mooring check but have chain replaced every 2 years, as required by insurance, for under $500. Boat club membership, indoor storage for dinghy, $150.

Figure under $450 annual cost. Not too bad.

Winter storage is free. Boat is kept on my own property but haulage is about $350 each way.

I pay $80/ft + $350 (30 amp electrical for the season) in Georgetown, ME. It works out to $3,150 for a 35 ft slip, which is all they had last season. Oh well, gives me room for the tender.

Currently $125 / ft. includes water and mickey mouse electrical. Contract dates are April 15th to October 15th. The docks are floating with finger piers which accomodate 8 -11 ft. tides. All piers and fingers are being converted over to trex decking. Little to no accomodation .... office closes at 5 and so does the head / no showers or storage lockers. Location is great .... 2 miles from home ... liquor store, bait and tackle across the street and a couple of hundred feet to 5 restaurants. Pleasant setting for hanging and dropping a line for stripers. 20 minutes up the river to the bay and white sandy beaches.

Closer to open water and ALL the amenities runs about $150 / ft .... pool, on-site restaurant, bar and a 15 - 20 minute longer car ride.

You guys should really specify what period of time you're talking about. Are those yearly rates? Monthly? Seasonal? If seasonal, how long can you leave it in?

My father owns a marina here in Gig Harbor, WA and slip rents vary based on the size of the slip, but they generally run between $8-12 per month, per foot. The larger the slip, the higher the per-foot rate. Water is free, but generally is turned off from December through February. Electricity is metered and billed monthly to the tenants. There is no cable tv, no phone. The docks are wooden and floating, and in fair but servicable condition. No restrooms, free parking, garbage and recycling. His rent is comparable to competitors who have higher quality concrete floats, and he still avoids extended vacancies, but runs a shorter waiting list than the competitors. Some of the tenants have been there for decades, other slips turn over every year or two. The larger boats stay in year-round, while most of the trailerable ones pull their boats in the winter. They usually continue to rent the slip to preserve the spot for the next summer, though some will sub-let to hard-core fishermen who want to be in the water in the winter.

I have a slip in the Benicia city marina, in Benicia, Ca. I'm about 45 minutes inland from San Fransico bay. Several good fishing spots with in minutes of the marina. Slip fee's for my 28TE is $304.00 month and includes electric, laundry rooms, showers, wifi and a well kept marina with security gates. I keep the 28TE in the water year round.

Off topic I grant you, but those of you that stay in the water year round, how often do you haul? Any special preparations for being wet 24/7/365?

I haul once every 2 years unless the diver that cleans the bottom of the boat tells be differently. I have them check my zinks once every 3 months and give the bottom a good cleaning. He also checks for any dings, looks the prop and shaft over and provides a full written report. Worth the cost as far as I'm concerned. Cleaning costs about 50-60 dollars, plus additonal cost for changing ZINCs if needed. Average cost fo the year is about 250 dollars.

If the bottom paint is not too bad I can let it go fo 3 years, this year I'm going to have it stripped and have a double coat put on.
