Weight of Albin 27
Does anyone know the weight of an Albin 27? When I purcahsed mine the previous owner said it weighed about 9,000 pounds and somewhere on this site someone stated thta theirs was the 9,500 pound model, but I have ben told by others it weighs around 6,000 pounds. Are there two models or just one?

Displacement of A27
The owners information sheet says that the "Sport Cruiser" model displacement is 6750 lbs. Hope that helps.

Albin 27 Weight
Dave
We just recently purchased our Albin 27, a Sport Cruiser model (no aft cabin). We found her in Mystic, Ct and after the sale had her trucked here to Michigan, We are still learning about this model, and at time strugling with the learning curve. We had owned sailing boats for the last 25 years and lived aboard the last sailboat for 6 months a year for 10 years. So, solving problems has been a normal part of boating for us. (As a matter of fact, the engine in our last sailboat is exactly the same Puegot/Lehman diesel that was installed in many of the early model year Albin 27's. Ours is a 1987 model with the Isuzu engine, so we are trying to get a handle on this new, to us, engine. I just winterized the boat and tucked her away until May. There is a long winter up here in Northern Michigan. I would love to talk to you off line about this boat and this engine if you like. My email address is stardust-v42@juno.com.

Weight of the 27FC
Greetings,
All of the Albin 27FC data sheets I've seen state the dry weight to be 6500 lbs. But both my transport hauler and marina travel lift operator report my 1988 boat's weight over 10.000 lbs. Granted, that included about 75 gallons of fuel ,20 gallons of water, and the usual cruising and fishing equipment.
I have read on this site that later models were beefed up to accomodate the larger engines of that period i.e Isuzu 157 hp. Could this possibly account for the apparent weight differential?

I don't know where you heard about a 9000 lb boat, but I suppose it is possible. If you take the 10,000 lbs that was reported in the previous post, and subtract the 75 gal of fuel and the 25 gal of water, you get very close to 9000 lbs.

10k sounds awfully heavy to me even with all tanks full. I do not think you would ever get over 7,500 with a 27AC with full tanks.
I just pulled on Tuesday. My transport guy thought we were in the 7,000 range with a 1/2 full fuel tank and all other tanks empty and a bunch of living stuff.

10,000# sounds very heavy to me also. I seem to recall dry wt being around the 7,000# mark. Add water (we carried 50 gal), fuel (70 gal single tank), necessary boat stuff, plus all the stuff that The Admiral deems necessary for weekend cruising, the I guess the true weight comes up to around the 9,000# mark.
Our 1986 27 had a 6 cyl 100hp engine. The larger engine plus all the 'Suff' required the waterline to be raised up to the bootstripe at the stern & above at the bow. how much extra water that displaced would be a good calculation exercise I am not about to try.
