Rumor has it, no more Yanmars in Albins only Volvo and Cummins.

Yes. We had a Volvo TAM41D in our Camano. It was an excellent engine that I felt was very reliable. Parts were a bit expensive, but aren't they always?
Cummins would bring the possibility of integrating the Zeus drive into the hull some time in the future, which I think is a great opportunity. Their partnership with Brunswick in CMD Marine gives them a an edge in the market and a lot of financial backing, so you won't be buying and engine that won't have dealer support a few years down the road.
Come to think of it, Volvo has their IPS system as well. I'm inclined to think that a choice of these two vendors (which, by the way, we have not yet confirmed), would indicate a desire to offer the boats with aximuthing drive technology, either immediately, or in the future, which I think is wise.

Yanmar Engines
We will actually still offer Yanmar Engines. We are however changing all of the boats so that they will come standard with Volvo or Cummins power. The main reason for this is that the 315 Yanmar is still a mechanical diesel. It is a very good mechanical diesel and meets current emission standards. But it is still smokier, louder and only comes with cable controls. But if someone orders a boat with a Yanmar 315, we wil build it. We are moving towards providing a better product to the customers and are currently making the same transition with our Shamrock Line of boats. We have sold hundreds of 315 Yanmars, but the boats perform better and are easier to use, have better fuel economy and are more pleasing to smell and listen to than the Yanmar 315. It also allows us to have "fly by wire" controls, and will come standard with the fuel management system. We believe that this will help us to provide a better product. But, that being said, I currently own a boat with a 315 yanmar, and have been very happy with it. My "New Boat" however is having a fully electronic Cummins installed as we speak. I will try to post pics of my new boat shortly. We are currently building boats, and have started shipping molds. We will deliver three new Albins in November. Two 28 TE's and one 31 TE. Another change is that the 31 TE will now be called a 32 TE. This is for two reasons. One, because it is 31' 9" in length and the other is because with our new product development we are working on, it will fit the rest of the line better. (That is a hint of things to come). I will try to check in here once in while as I have done on the Shamrock Owners site. Everyone at our company is very excited to have Albin join the family, and I will post some pics as we begin to finish boats here in the next couple of weeks. I hope that this helps for an update.
